Archaeological site in Maharashtra State,
India, with 35 sculpted and decorated temple
caves - Buddhist, Hindu, and Jainist - dating
from the late 6th century to the 10th
century. They include Visvakarma (a hall
about 26 m/86 ft long containing an image of
the Buddha), Tin Thal (a three-storeyed
Buddhist monastery cave), the Rameswara cave
(with beautiful sculptures), and Siva's
Paradise, the great temple of Kailasa.
